Holiday by the great lakes of northern Italy has a very special aura that many return to time and time again. There is magnificent nature, charming towns with restaurants by the lakeside, and a very pleasant climate in the summer months.
The apartment is located in a larger holiday complex with access to a wide range of shared facilities. These include a beautiful and well-maintained botanical garden surrounding the residences, two swimming pools and two tennis courts right by the lakeshore, as well as a historic mansion with meeting and conference rooms, a bar, billiards, and a common room for board games, and more. To get to the tennis courts and pools, one must walk a bit.
Oggebbio is a smaller town located about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Milano Malpensa Airport, with 4 restaurants within walking distance, as well as a small grocery store on the square above the apartments. There is easy access by bus or car to the port city of Verbania, 10 km away, or to one of the other beautiful towns along the lakeside. The area around Lake Maggiore is filled with activities, such as the Val Grande National Park, which is located just behind Oggebbio and offers excellent opportunities for hiking and trekking, and is Italy’s largest wilderness area. There are also 4 golf courses in the area, with the 18-hole Golf Club des Iles Borromees near Stresa/Baveno being highly recommended. Of course, the lake itself also offers a range of activities, such as boat tours, water sports, diving, and, not least, fishing – fishing licenses can be purchased at the post offices. In addition, a visit to the Borromean Islands just off Baveno is a must, where the Borromeo family created their own little paradises 400 years ago.
