The southern Costa Blanca is the warmest area on the European mainland in the winter. There are approximately 340 sunny days, and typically 20 degrees Celsius in the middle of the day during winter. The area has beautiful, wide sandy beaches, and you can swim practically all year round. There are great opportunities for exercise with cycling and beautiful walks along the water.
The outdoor shopping center Zenia Boulevard is a must-visit. It is open, bright, and luxurious with lots of good shops and restaurants. You can walk there in 20 minutes. The area is suitable for walks along the water canal with orange plantations. The walk along the coast to the south towards the small marina is fantastic. Elche is the city with the most palm trees in Europe – only 30 minutes by car. Alicante is worth a visit. Cartagena, built by Carthage, is also worth a visit with lots of history. The city was one of the last cities to surrender during the Spanish Civil War.
